Rosemary slowly opened the door to the supposed teen hangout. She had done her best to look her best, but the obvious flaws were still there. There was truly nothing one could do about such things, except face the facts and try and move on. The key word in that sentence would be try. Could she help it that she was sensitive..well she supposed she could but didn't really too hard to. Miss Lennix moved around through the arcade, looking at each game in turn before coming to the Dance Dance Revolution game. She wasn't great at the game, ok she wasn't even good at the game but she could do the first and second levels so she wasn't a complete failure. Pulling out some change, she exchanged them for tokens and pushed them in the slots provided. Carefully, Rosemary choose her song, in easy mode of course. In only a few moments, Rose was moving her feet to the beat. It was slow enough that she could keep up, and as long as it was like she could have fun. She did have three songs, so she'd make it so she could actually do each song before moving onto something harder. If anyone came up to her, she supposed she could say she was warming up. Then again, there wasn't much chance of anyone coming up to watch someone only doing a level one song on Dance Dance Revolution. People liked watching people do songs on level four or five. She wasn't sure how to keep moving like that, certainly took more than what Rose had.

Alex Rivers Alex entered "The Dog House", a spot she frequented after the Preps started work at Annabelle's. Alex was no a people person, in fact she dispied people. People lead to bad experiences. Her roommate and that Japanese exchange student where the exception. Tora helped her with that damn Japanese class, and she was going to have to deal with Myla until the end of the year. She was going to have to get along with them.
Alex watched a girl play DDR on level one. She always preferred watching people playing on level one, because of two reasons:
1) When people are playing at level four or five, it's too crowded for Alex.
2) Just because she danced doesn't mean she was good. DDR was about eye-feet coronation.

Rose finished the current song, then with her hand on the bar behind her, she hit the right arrow pad on the floor with her foot and looked through the list of songs. None of the songs seemed to be very recent, but they worked out well. The dance pad was not only a good work out, which Rose needed from time to time, but it was also fun to do. On this pad, she could 'dance'. Well, it was more like stomping around on buttons that real dancing but the game had the word dance in it twice.
Tapping the center button, she stood in the center and got used to the beat. This was still a level one song, but perhaps the next one she would attempt a level two. Jumping around on the pad, well not jumping jumping, but more like a boxer's little bounce. She hit the buttons, concentrating on each arrow as it came upward to the place where you had to try and make it fit perfectly. Even on level one, Rose only got good's and a few perfects. Level two would be even worse than that, and she wouldn't even be attempting level three.

Alex watched the girl and thought back to the only real home she had. While she lived in the Ghetto, her Foster-parents had scrapped together enough money to get a used PlayStation 2 for her Foster-brother. She had worked to get both her Foster-sister and her Foster-brother DDR, even then she didn't get enough until two weeks after Christmas. After they gotten DDR, they had competitions once a month. It was fun. none of the actual members competed, but their girls did.
She had never gotten past level 2, while her Foster-sister got to level 5, which put the dancer to shame. Alex couldn't beat a seven year-old at DDR, which caused her to get teased by the gang members and her Foster-brother.

It was only by accident that Rose saw the girl behind her. She had turned to hit right then back, and it coincided with the glancing at the distractions behind her. She missed the next step, but got back on step with the one after. It was going slow enough that it didn't waste too many steps when you made one mistake, which is why Rose liked this level. It was simple and easy. She didn't think she was that interesting to watch, but perhaps the person was simply bored and out of money. Or, perhaps the person just enjoyed watching people play DDR no matter how bad they did at the game.
Finishing the song, she carefully considered her next choice. She had to decide on a level two, the terrible two's that some people apply to kids. Rose could apply it to just about anything. Well, maybe not everyone but she could come up with a pathetic excuse here and there about this or that. Looking at her last two choices, she choose the former. She had done it before so it would be the easiest of the the choices. With someone watching, it just added pressure to her playing. She wished she had never looked back now...

A smirk came over Alex's lips as she was lost is memories. DDR was the reason she had her first kiss. She was going up against her Foster-brother and they where on level five, her failing miserably. He had tripped while he was facing her for some reason and he fell on her, their lips connected. She had been really embrassed, because she had a crush on her Foster-brother. She she still had the picture her Foster-mother took.

Rose fully concentrated on her game. She missed one step, then missed about four more before she caught up with the arrows. She kept her mind on the game, her mind on the game. She smiled in triumph as a B came over the screen. It was a low B, but it was the highest score she'd gotten on a level two game. Still grinning, she game down from the dance pad and noticed the girl was still there. Of course, she looked like she was deep in thought so perhaps she hadn't even been watching her.
"Uh...Hi?" Rose said, her grin loosing it's warmth. She wasn't good with strangers. Never had been, never will. If she talked directly to a person, her brain turned sluggish. She would exchanged hi's, then leave. She just hoped she wasn't someone who couldn't shut up, then again she wouldn't have to talk much and she might make a friend. Well, then again she might grow to hate her as well, and having someone hate her wasn't a way she wasn't a way to start out a new year.

"Keep your cool and stay in school, hon." "Dork!" "Uh... Hi?" Alex snapped back to the present, blinking. She responded to the greeting with a nod. "The name's Alex. You?" Why did that sound so lame to her? Why was she even trying to be cool? If somebody wasn't right there, she would have hit her head against the machine she was leaning against.

Rose watched the emotions fly over her face. She really must have been deep in her memories, or had she truly surprised her. "I'm Rose." She smiled offered her hand, then thought better of it. Who really shook hands anymore? Still, it was a habit she had formed and that she now hated. People now were more laid back, the only shaking of hands were when you were being overly formal. Great, she meets someone in a arcade and decides to be 'overly formal'.
"You go to..Sunset Creek Acadamy as well, I think at least. I can think I saw someone someplace and be completely wrong so don't feel bad about correcting me." Great, Rose thought dryly. She was babbling not. On top of that, she had just given the girl reason to mock her, so where were her brains now? Certainly not doing their job as they should be. She really had started her year off wonderfully, Rose thought sarcastically.

"Yeah, I'm in you Public Speaking class and in Dance class with you." Alex replied as she checked her phone. Nope, no text from her Ex/Last Foster-brother. Some people may have saw their relastonship as "Werid", but she truely loved Lucas. Turns out, he didn't feel the same a few weeks into the relationship. It had hurt her, yes, but she wasn't going to tell him that.

Alex decided to be nice. Her Foster-parents wanted her to have "friends" and have a good life filled with"good" people. "Do you need any help in Dance class? I have free-time after school, so if you want I can help you a bit."
Alex didn't want to say staight up "You can't dance", that gotten her into deep trouble last time. She didn't need trouble. She already had police watching her, waiting for her to make a mistake. She didn't need to give them a reason to throw her behind bars.

"I need all the help I can get." Rose said without thinking about what she was saying. After it was out, she almost wanted to take them back. Almost. Perhaps not since it was clear she really wasn't good at the class. Putting on a smile, she watched here new 'friend'. She wasn't sure they were friends so she wasn't sure what exactly to call her. All she knew was that her name was Alex, short for something else no doubt, and she was in her public speaking class as well as dancing.
"Was that a real offer?" Rose asked, wondering if maybe she was just being teased for being a graceless elephant that stomped around the classroom. She had given herself that title, having looked back on her first class. She may be the worst person in there, but then again she hadn't payed much attention to anyone else. She was in that class to learn how to dance, and it was quite obvious that she needed to learn or risk embarrassing herself at dances and other things that might require dancing. [/blockquote]

"Yeah," Alex replied, tucking a brown strand of hair behind her ear. "Next week we're starting the segment on Waltz in class, so I can help you on that so you know what your doing. After we finish with the Waltz, I can help you out on what the class already finish." She decided to add on to what she said. "I can get impatient at time, so please really want to learn how do dance. I don't want to waste your time and my time if you don't want my help and to dance better." She gave Rose a calculating stare. "Do you still want my help?"

Rose had to stop herself from groaning. Waltz? Waltz of all things? It just had to be waltz, didn't it? She listened to the words spoken to her, and considered them. She didn't want to waste her time, but she also didn't want to be a complete failure at this. She had to be ready to be pushed. That was what the girl was saying. She wouldn't be able to slack off, or she would lose her help. It took her a few seconds, a few seconds to think and a few seconds to let Alex know she was serious. "I still want your help. I still need your help."
